What is a dent doctor?
A dent doctor is needed when a used car has small or large body damage with dents or dings. These occur quicker than you would think, if one was not careful while parking or weather conditions such as hail have caused damage. For smaller car body damage, the motorists do not have to necessarily go to the workshop. If, however, there is a larger dent, possibly with paint damage, the dent doctor is not enough and professionals in the workshop have to remove the damaged body part, prepare it, repaint and refit. In smaller matters, however, the dent doctor can use different methods to get the car free of dings and dents. SMART repair and specifically paintless dent removal technique belong to the repertoire of the dent doctor who takes care of parking dents, hail damage and chestnut damage.
Which techniques does the dent doctor use?
Dent doctors use special tools and techniques when removing dents. The advantage is that a dent doctor does not have to remove the particular part first, but can work directly on the body. In this way, dent removal occurs quickly and saves costs as well as time. Some dent doctors work together with paint doctors, so – if paint scratches are present – they can be directly removed. An expert for dents uses two techniques for removing the body damage:
- Glue pulling technique
The most modern form of paintless dent removal is the glue pulling technology, which is widespread among dent doctors. This method makes it possible to mend countless parts on the car. An adapter with a glue head is placed directly in the centre of the dent and lifted out with a sliding hammer. Thus, the dent is formed into a bump and the dent doctor can simply return it to its original form.
- Panel beating technique
Specially curved steel rods help the dent doctor with the panel beating technique to remove body damage without leaving any residue. In this case, bumps are pulled or squeezed out from the back of the metal. The expert uses special lamps, shields and plates to identify the exact point of the dent. By projecting parallel lines over the paint, a distortion can be revealed. If the back of the dent is pressed and the lines are again parallel, the dent has been removed.
Dent doctor: cost of repair
If you are repairing a very small ding or a dent, then it will cost on average about 120 Dirhams. A diameter of about six centimetres cost about 350 Dirhams. There are also dent doctors, who offer special deals if there are several small dents on the same component – it is a deal for the customer if there is hail damage.
